Project
Because the MIT faculty plays many key roles in the governance of the Institute, it was essential to have a modern, user-friendly website for governance information and resources. Historically, this content was located on three websites: Faculty Resources, Committees and Councils, and Minutes of the Faculty Meetings. A new site was needed to house the information in one place, improve the user experience, and update the design.
Methodology
We met with the client team to learn about their goals for the new site, then wrote the RFP and recommended design and development firms that would be a good fit. As part of the discovery process, we created a survey to get feedback from faculty on the features they’d find useful on the new site. We offered feedback on each iteration of the site structure and visual design. Just before launch, we tested the site to ensure that everything was working as planned.
Results
The new site has a clean, modern design, but functionality leads the way. Several sections have detailed filters that efficiently guide users to the content they’re seeking. Now that all relevant information is on one site, visitors have a consistent user experience, and updating content is much easier for the site administrator.
